Autocompleter – Mountain View – US jobs – Google.

Are you willing to “relocate to obscure places like Nauru and Tuvalu to develop knowledge of local news and trends”?

Do you have a certificate in “palm, tarot, hypnosis, astrology, numerology, runes and/or auras”?

Can you type at speed of 32000 WPM or more?

Google has a job for you! As an “Autocompletion Analyst“.

LOL. That’s this year’s Google All Fools Day prank.

Google Maps Distance Measurement Tool

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Google labs has a few new tools, one of which is the distance measurement tool. Just enable the feature, then in the map – select the tool (small ruler icon at bottom left), then click on the map to trace a path you want to measure. Default units are “Metric” and “English” and if you click “I’m feeling geeky” you get a whole lot of measuring units like fathom, furlong, league, nautical miles, yards and even inches.

This is just what we were looking for when we wrote the previous post.

Distance Tracing on Map

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

I was trying to find traveling distance from point A to point B on Google Maps, but it would show unused routes when we use the directions tool. I felt the need to be able to trace “my own” route over the Google map and get the distance from the system. Came across the Map Pedometer at www.mappedometer.com – exactly what I wanted. MapPedometer allows us to calculate distance traveled for running, walking, cycling, or other activities, by marking points along the Google map.

Pacman Google

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Google plays Pacman.

Google has this knack of reminding us of interesting things about computers/internet/inventions etc by a temporary modification of its logo.

Today, on 5/21/2010, Google.com (or Google.co.in for that matter) has put the Pacman game around the header logo and for the first time the logo is interactive. The iconic game can be played right there on the logo. Instead of the “I am feeling Lucky” button, it has “Insert Coin“, which on clicking starts the game with the legendary sound effects too.

Join the 30th anniversary celebration of Adam Pacman Jones‘s legendary game with the Google Doodle. The playable logo will be on through Sunday morning PTC.
